‘Wee Smokers’ allegedly set UNER Forest and Shops ablaze


At least, three shops and several properties worth millions of Ghana cedis have been consumed by fire which started form a forest reserve of the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UNER)

ARK FM’ Kwasi Kyei Baffour visit to the scene reveals, the fire which started around 10: 00 Am today, January 26, 2022, quickly spread to the University’s forest and through some shops along the forest.

Speaking to one Peter Kusi Junior caretaker of an affected sawmill shop around, he suspects wee smoker using the forest as their Haven are behind the it.

No casualty was recorded according to the Bono Regional Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Ghana National Fire Service.

ADO3 Ruth Tandor told ARK FM that investigations will be carried out soon to ascertain the cause of the fire.
